Day 326/365: Half a Sweater

A big advantage of knitting a sweater from the top down is that you can try it on as you knit.

Like so:

11.22.2015a

In which I take a selfie in my pajamas. And that weird bump on my belly is the drawstring cord of the pants.

I spent a good part of the day knitting the ribbing on the cuff.

When I got to what seemed like wrist-length, I bound off the sleeve.

And got this:

I’m not thrilled with the edge of that sleeve.  I’ll probably frog all that ribbing and do something else later.  (Oh!  Maybe bracelet-length sleeves with a crocheted edge?)  In the meantime, I’m going to start the second arm.  I’m pretty sure a couple of my neighbors were wondering what I was doing out on the porch, taking selfies in what appeared to be a one-armed sweater.

Day 325/365: The Unfinished Sweater

Okay, I’ll be honest:  I got bored after crocheting a few more rows on the Coast Ripple afghan.  So I set that aside and looked at what else remained in the WIP pile.

There was this:

11.21.2015a

This is a knitted top-down sweater that I started about two years ago.  The yarn is Berrocco Lustra, 50% Peruvian wool and 50% Tencel Lyocell.

11.21.2015b

As you can see, it’s missing an arm, a neckline, the rest of the body,

and a cuff.

11.21.2015c

I think I might accomplish finishing one cuff today.

Day 323/365: Knitting Break

Back in February, I started crocheting this afghan, the Coast Ripple Blanket designed by Lucy of Attic 24.  It’s one of three remaining unfinished projects that I’ve got left to complete.  Since this afghan is a crocheted project while the other two are knitted, I just may be able to get this done by the end of the month.  Also, I need a break from those dang mitered squares.

Day 322/365: Mitered Squares… Pillowcase?

11.18.2015

So here is my progress on the knitted mitered squares blanket.  It currently measures 23″ by 15″.  I have to be honest with you– I’m not sure where I’m going with this thing.  Should I just turn it into a slip-on cover for a throw pillow?  Make it a baby blanket?  Set it aside and work on something else?

I am really trying to resist starting a new project since part of the reason I started this blog was to get myself to finish all of my works-in-progress by the end of the year.  There are only about 43 days left in 2015…

Day 316/365: Mitered Squares Blanket in Progress

Last December, I made a sort-of New Year’s resolution that I would complete all of my knitted and crocheted projects in 2015 and put an end to the assorted WIPs cluttering my home.  The problem is that I didn’t resolve not to start any new projects in 2015.  And a couple of weeks ago I took a class in knitting mitered squares and couldn’t resist starting a new project.

So here it is, less than 50 days away from the end of the year, and I wonder how many squares I will be able to knit and whether I will have a baby blanket or an adult-sized afghan to bring into 2016.
