I knew I would be struggling with jet lag after our quick trip to Florida and back, so when I submitted my time off request a few weeks ago, I purposely added one extra day off in order to catch up on my sleep and rest. Given the prison environment and inmate population, it would have been foolish for me to go to work today less than alert.
I think I’m rested now, but it’s going to be a challenge to get out of bed tomorrow. I just want to stay home and finish my sock.

They look great! I’m new at knitting and for the life of me I can’t figure out how to do the magic circle for hats etc. I’ve watched countless videos and still have an issue. What’s your secret?

What helped me was a one-on-one tutorial with my husband’s aunt who is an experienced knitter. Years ago she taught me the Magic Loop method using one long circular needle. Once she demonstrated it, it seemed so simple! I had the opportunity to see her again this past weekend, and she taught me the Fish Lips Kiss Heel. I have also taken knitting classes at a local yarn shop to learn other methods, like knitting from the toe up using Judy’s Magic Cast-On. You’ve given me an idea, though– I could do a blog post on how to apply the Magic Loop method, and maybe that could help.
