Day 322/365: Mitered Squares… Pillowcase?

11.18.2015

So here is my progress on the knitted mitered squares blanket.  It currently measures 23″ by 15″.  I have to be honest with you– I’m not sure where I’m going with this thing.  Should I just turn it into a slip-on cover for a throw pillow?  Make it a baby blanket?  Set it aside and work on something else?

I am really trying to resist starting a new project since part of the reason I started this blog was to get myself to finish all of my works-in-progress by the end of the year.  There are only about 43 days left in 2015…

Day 321/365: Back to Work

Ever since the change in Daylight Saving Time, I’ve tried to be mindful of leaving my office by 5 PM in order to avoid being inside the prison at dusk.  Unfortunately, today was a really busy day and I had a lot of paperwork to complete, so I didn’t officially walk outside of the facility until the sun had almost set behind the mountains.

That’s okay, though.  I didn’t make a whole lot more progress on the mitered squares blanket, so instead I’ll share with you a blurry photo of our parking lot as I was leaving work.

Day 319/365: Rain!

It actually rained today.  Even though it didn’t last for very long, this was still a big deal to me and Sean because we are in the middle of a drought here in California.  Also, it was nice to put on long sleeves and dress for chillier weather.

And I got to bring out my pretty pink umbrella.

We walked downtown to get some lunch, and I couldn’t help stopping to take a photo of this.  It is yet another reason why I love the city of Ventura.

Hope you have been enjoying a nice weekend, as well!

Day 317/365: Friday the 13th

There was a problem with our server today, which meant that I wasn’t able to do a lot of stuff that I normally do on the computer, and I lost a bunch of documents that may or may not be there when I return next week.  Supposedly the IT people were in the process of restoring order; in the meantime, I just went old school and resorted to the old pen, pad of paper, and books.  I told myself there was no point in freaking out today about whether or not all of my progress notes and treatment plans from 2015 were wiped out.  I’ll find out on Tuesday and go from there.

Anyway, now it’s the weekend and I can get back to my knitting.

Happy Friday!

Day 316/365: Mitered Squares Blanket in Progress

Last December, I made a sort-of New Year’s resolution that I would complete all of my knitted and crocheted projects in 2015 and put an end to the assorted WIPs cluttering my home.  The problem is that I didn’t resolve not to start any new projects in 2015.  And a couple of weeks ago I took a class in knitting mitered squares and couldn’t resist starting a new project.

So here it is, less than 50 days away from the end of the year, and I wonder how many squares I will be able to knit and whether I will have a baby blanket or an adult-sized afghan to bring into 2016.

Day 313/365: The Day After Monterey

Boy, has it been a long day.  Sean and I got up early in Monterey, went out for breakfast, returned to the hotel, packed up, and checked out.  Then we got in The Rental and headed back down to Morro Bay.

Sadly, I’d neglected to bring along a work in progress that I could knit.  So I watched the scenery go by, and I took some photos for the blog.

I thought the low clouds in the distance looked pretty neat.

There was actual rain!

Passenger-side view. Call me a nerd, but I really liked the way those clouds just hovered so closely over the ground.

When we got back to the Morro Bay house, we were both pretty tired, but we still had to drive 150 miles more down to Ventura.  Sean had to teach the next day, and I had to get my allergy shot in Oxnard.  So we ate lunch, took care of a few things around the house (laundry, dishes, mail), and then got ready to head back down to the Ventura apartment.

I was wearing a long-sleeved shirt and spotted my Swatch on a side table.  I thought, I’m going to need that, and I put it on.  Then we grabbed our stuff and headed out.

When we got to Ventura, it was a lot warmer than it had been in Morro Bay and Monterey.  I took off my hoodie and my long-sleeved shirt, and then I noticed my wrist.

I’d put on my Swatch when I’d already been wearing my Garmin under my long sleeve.

I think that about sums up my day and my state of mind.
